How Do I Become A Weaponsmith Or Armorsmith?

I picked up Blacksmithing and I was wondering where I can choose either weaponsmithing or armorsmithing at.

To become either a weaponsmith or an armorsmith, you will first need to be a blacksmith and be at least level 40. Mining is also the other profession that you should have, as you will need to be able to gather the metals and ores so you won’t have to purchase them.

If you would like to become a weaponsmith, here is what you need to do when you are level 40+ and your blacksmithing skill is 200+:

1. Horde – Head to Borgosh Corebender in Orgrimmar at (79,21) and get the blacksmithing specialization quest from him. You will need to get two recipes that aren’t available from the artisan blacksmith trainer: the Moonsteel Broadsword recipe (which can be purchased from Zarena Cromwind at (28,75) in Booty Bay) and the Massive Iron Axe recipe (which can be purchased from Vharr at (32,28) in Grom’Gol). The other recipes you can get from the artisan blacksmith trainer: the Heavy Mithril Axe and the Big Black Mace, which is acquired from Brikk Keencraft at 29,75) in Booty Bay. Then, you make 4 Moonsteel Broadswords, 4 Massive Iron Axes, 2 Heavy Mithril Axes, and 2 Big Black Maces to turn in to Borgosh.

2. Alliance – Head to Ironus Coldsteel at the Great Forge in Ironforge and get the blacksmithing specialization quest from him. You will need to get two recipes that aren’t available from the artisan blacksmith trainer: Moonsteel Broadsword recipe(which can be purchased from Zarena Cromwind at (28,75) in Booty Bay) and the Massive Iron Axe recipe (which can be purchased from Jaquilina Dramet at (35,10) in Nesingwary’s Camp). The other recipes you can get from the artisan blacksmith trainer: the Heavy Mithril Axe and the Big Black Mace, which is acquired from Brikk Keencraft at 29,75) in Booty Bay. Then, you make 4 Moonsteel Broadswords, 4 Massive Iron Axes, 2 Heavy Mithril Axes, and 2 Big Black Maces to turn in to Ironus.

If you would like to become an armorsmith, here is what you need to do when you are level 40+ and your blacksmithing skill is 200+:

1. Horde – Head to Okothos Ironrager at (79,22) in Orgrimmar and get the blacksmithing specialization quest from him. You will have to have completed the Mithril Order chain from Galvan the Ancient at (50,20) in Strangelthorn Vale so you can get the recipes that you will need to do the armorsmithing quest. Then, you will need to make 4 Ornate Mithril Helms, 2 Ornate Mithril Boots, and 1 Ornate Mithril Breastplate to turn in to Okothos.

2. Alliance – Head to the Great Forge in Ironforge and get the blacksmithing specialization quest. You will have to have completed the Mithril Order chain from Trenton Lighthammer at (51,28) in Gadgetzan so you can get the recipes that you will need to do the armorsmithing quest. Then, you will need to make 4 Ornate Mithril Helms, 2 Ornate Mithril Boots, and 1 Ornate Mithril Breastplate to turn in to the dwarf who gave you the quest.

After you have chosen and completed the quests to become an armorsmith or a weaponsmith, you can then keep training in that profession so you can start making those sweet epics. :)

One comment to add: before you can get the quest for either armorsmith OR weaponsmith you must first talk to Krathok Moltenfist. once you pick he turns around and yells at the trainer Steelfury or Ironrager and THEN you can pick up the quest
