Is It Better To Power Level Yourself Or In A Group?

I have been trying to level up myself for the most part because I have seen a lot of my friends level up their characters solo. It is going pretty slow and I have even heard that i'm leveling up so slow because i'm not leveling with a group. So, is it better to level by myself or should I get in with a group and level that way?

The short answer to this is yes and no. Before you get confused from this let me give my reasoning behind the answer.

There really are places that solo leveling will benefit you the most as you will get more experience points for it. I soloed all the way to level 60. Granted I wasn't the fastest one to get there but I did make it.

After level 60 I would focus a lot more on getting small groups leveling with you. It is still possible to do solo but I really had a hard time with it and kept dying a lot. Keep in mind I also wasn't equipped in tier sets either, that could make a difference as well.

Anyway, power leveling solo can benefit you greatly as you will earn more experience points, can level at your own time and pace, and it really makes it easier to stay focused. I tend to not be very focused when grouped up with people.

Some of the downfalls of soloing is you will probably die more, you can easily get bored, and you will not be able to do instances.

With grouping you earn less experience (but can kill mobs faster), can be difficult to find a trusting group if you are not in a guild, harder to stay focused and stay on task, and if you level up strictly with someone then you may find it hard to coordinate playtime together.

I have a Blood Elf Paladin I have been playing with my wife's BE Hunter and even though we have hit level 34 in 2 days and 9 hours /played time it has taken us 2 months real life time in order to get that much time logged on our characters. If you don't level up with one certain person then this may not be an issue for you. There will be certain trade-offs no matter what you decide to do because World of Warcraft tries to cover as many gaming styles as it can.

In the end it really is totally up to your playing style and I believe an even balance between soloing and grouping can help you achieve level 70 in a decent amount of time. Remember, part of the fun is the journey to level 70 and will be a lot more fun for you if you look at it like that.

I've been pulling a bit of both. Keep in mind that some classes just *suck* for leveling alone and some quests are almost impossible for some classes alone.

Remember that pulling one mob at a time isn't always possible on some quests and even a full prot warrior/pally can get squished quickly when the mobs aggro all over you. I have a prot pally right now and killing the mobs is going slowly. I can hold my own against more aggro now, but even then, the low DPS almost negates the tons of extra armor, especially against spellcasters.
