My World of Warcraft CD Key Is Too Short/Missing How Do I Fix It?

I just bought a copy of World of Warcraft and when setting up my account I discovered, to my horror, that my CD key is one digit too short. How can I fix it without buying another copy of WoW?

Ouch! That really puts a damper on getting an account setup to start playing. The good news is there are a couple of things you can do to get the World of Warcraft CD key replaced. First though I would make completely certain that it is one digit short and that it wasn’t just typed in incorrectly.

You may be able to take it back to the store and ask for an exchange as long as you still have the receipt. According to Blizzard whenever a CD key is missing it is considered defective and you should have no problem getting it replaced. Then again if you have ever tried to take back opened software to a store you know what kind of hassles there can be, especially at everyone’s favorite store….Wal-Mart (Yuck!).

The other way you can handle this is to send in either the CD case that holds all the sleeves if you have the Standard Version or Burning Crusade or if you have the Collector’s Edition mail Blizzard the official instruction manual. This is sometimes the route you need to go if the store won’t issue a replacement. Also when mailing be sure to include a letter that explains your situation and also have your address included in it as well.

Blizzard also states that you do not send in the game CDs as they can be damaged in the mail. The address you need to mail to as well as detailed instructions on what to do can be found at the World of Warcraft community site. A quick note: This will only work for North American English versions of the game but here is a list of international contact information for everyone else having this problem not playing the North American English version.

There are the ways to either get a CD key if your copy is missing one or if there is a problem with one of the digits missing. Of course the fastest way to handle this would be taking it back to the store as I bet mailing to Blizzard and waiting for them to process it and to mail you back would probably take a while to do but even that is better than buying another copy.

I Quit playing world of warcraft for a couple months and Now my Account has been deleted. I do not know why it has been deleted, I have not done anything wrong. Now I would like to play again, and I cannot. I have even tried creating a new account, it wont even let me create a new account. It says i have used my Authentication Key already, yet i have no account active. I can’t even delete my old account to try and restart. What should I do?

If your account was deleted it will pretty much cancel out your old CD key as well. Sounds like you will need to buy another copy of WoW to get the CD key to create a new account.

Before doing that you might want to contact Blizzard to see what is going on with it before spending more money.
