My World of Warcraft Realm Is Not Showing Has My Character Been Deleted?

Posted on August 14, 2007 by Apadwe

Is it possible that my character was deleted? I login to WoW and it brings me to the suggested Realm page instead of Character Selection and when I try to find my old realm it is not on the server list. Do you know what has happened?

No, I don't believe your character was deleted if this is what you are experiencing when trying to login to the game. This normally happens whenever there is a server maintanence scheduled and the server is currently offline getting serviced.

This usually happens on Tuesdays as it is the "official" maintenance day for Blizzard. If your character was actually deleted you would be able to get to the character selection screen and it wouldn't show up. Since your server isn't showing up I believe it is currently offline and since today is Tuesday.

I have seen a lot of strange things happen after logging in to World of Warcraft during or even after a patch day or just a regular maintenance. I've had what you described above happen many times to me. I also have had it show my server and it has shown the character count next to the server name show there were no characters created on my server. Talk about a heart attack! Anyway, a good rule of thumb before stressing out that your character has been deleted is to make sure you can get to the character selection screen and if you don't see your characters there then feel free to freak out! :)

Walkere @ 3:30 pm:

For the record, this will also apply to a dozen or two realms on Wednesday this week. They were taken down for 48 hours, so they will continue to not show on the Realm Selection screen until sometime tomorrow… hopefully on time at 3 AM, but probably closer to 3 PM with our luck.
