How do I start a WoW Guild?
Posted on August 27, 2007 by ApadweI haven't yet started a World of Warcraft guild. I am really unsure how to do it so my question is…how do I start a guild?
Starting a World of Warcraft guild is something that a lot of players take lightly without realizing the time and effort that running a guild takes. If you are considering starting a guild, make sure that you have the time each week to devote to the guild, such as managing players ranks, recruiting, organizing the guild bank (if you decide to have one), holding guild meetings, organizing raids, and so on. There is a lot that goes into being a guild master, from training new players to raiding towns, so be sure that you are ready for it.
When you decide to start a WoW guild, the first thing that you will need to do is to have at least 10 gold on your toon. Then, you need to head to the nearest large city, such as Undercity (Horde) or Ironforge (Alliance). In the larger cities such as these, there will be a guild area where you can start a guild, design a World of Warcraft tabard, and purchase WoW guild tabards.
First, you will purchase a charter from one of the NPC's in the guild creation area of the city. That NPC will ask you to choose a guild name as well as pay your 10 gold to start a guild. Then, you will need to find 10 players who are willing to sign your guild charter. Sometimes this is an easy task, and other times it can take you a week or more to gain the signatures that you need. Once you have the 10 signatures, you will take the charter back to the NPC who gave it to you and turn it in. You then have an active, working guild.
After your guild is active, you will need to organize your guild however you see fit. There are many different ranks that you can add to the guild information, and you can rename them however you want. You will also need to enter in guild information, such as what level RP your guild is or rules that your PvP guild has. It takes a bit to organize your guild ranking and information to the way you want it, and it will also change as your guild progresses in size and age.
Once you have your guild organization down, you begin the fun task of recruiting members for your guild. One of the fastest ways to gain new members is to set a macro on your hotkeys that you can simply hit to place your guild recruitment into the general or guild recruitment channel. With a macro in place, you can hit it every time you fly through an area or change areas, and you won't waste time typing in your speech each time. Then, head to a noob starting area. Recruit there for a while, and head back at least once a week (normally on weekends) and recruit some more. While you'll get a lot of new players, you will also get a lot of older players that are just creating new toons. And, don't forget to enlist alts into your guild!
Set your WoW guild controls so that all members can recruit and you will find that players in your guild will begin to recruit other players. As your guild grows, other players will start to recognize your guild name and will ask to join.
As long as you take care of your people and your guild, your guild will do well throughout it's life in the World of Warcraft.

actually it does not cost 10 gold to start a guild, it starts 10 silver. It costs 10 gold to purchase a tabard design. Also, it is far more efficient to post your ad in the general chat. The guild recruitment channel can be ignored easily.
